The exchange rate is a second charge

TD's fee lines read "plus exchange rate, taxes and correspondent fees". Its foreign exchange is handled by its affiliate, The Toronto-Dominion Bank. No markup figure is published.

That markup does not appear on the fee schedule. Ask the bank for the rate before you confirm, then compare it with the reference rate in the calculator below to see what it costs in dollars.

Who pays less

TD Beyond Checking gets incoming wires free and one outgoing wire fee reimbursed each statement cycle.

Cutoff times

TD does not publish a cutoff for outgoing wires.

Worth knowing

  • TD publishes one price for each wire type, with no separate online and branch prices.

Of the 17 banks in our table, 8 charge less for a standard outgoing domestic wire. See the full table.

Uses the bank's fee for a wire it converts to foreign currency, since you are pricing its exchange rate.

How it works: the cost of a quote is everything you pay minus what the money the recipient gets is worth at the mid-market rate. That catches a fee and an exchange-rate markup in one number. Assumes the fee is paid on top of the amount sent; if a provider takes its fee out of the amount, enter what the recipient gets instead of the rate. The mid-market rate is the ECB euro reference rate crossed to dollars. ECB reference rates are published for information purposes only.
